Henk Slager’s focus has been on research and visual art for the last ten years. He is the dean of MaHKU Utrecht Graduate School of Visual Art and Design, Utrecht and in 2006 co-initiated the European Artistic Research Network (EARN), a network investigating the consequences of artistic research for current art education through symposia, expert meetings, and presentations. Departing from a similar focus on artistic research, in 2015 he published The Pleasure of Research, an overview of educational and curatorial research projects between 2007 and 2014. He has also (co-)produced various curatorial projects, e.g., The Utopia of Access, 2nd Research Pavilion, 57th Venice Biennale, Venice, 2017; Timely Meditations, 5th Guangzhou Triennial, Guangzhou, 2016; Experimentality, 1st Research Pavilion, 56th Venice Biennale, Venice, 2015; Aesthetic Jam, Project Taipei Biennial, Taipei, 2014; Offside Effect, 1st Tbilisi Triennial, Tbilisi, 2012; Doing Research, special issue for dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel, 2012; As the Academy Turns, Manifesta 8 Collaborative, various locations, 2010; Translocalmotion, 7th Shanghai Biennale, Shanghai, 2008; and Nameless Science, Apex Art, New York, 2009. Slager lives and works in Amsterdam and Utrecht.
